Sign Language
The third most widely used language in America is sign language. If you’re interested in communicating with deaf individuals, studying non-verbal communication or entering an ever-growing career field, take this opportunity to learn American Sign Language. Also included are the basics of finger spelling, conversational phrases, basic grammar and courtesies that should be extended to the deaf individuals. Plan to spend about $50 for the book A Basic Course in American Sign Language, which will be used for all three classes. “Mommy & Me” Sign Language (Age 1-3)
You and your baby will learn how to communicate with sign language. Bring your child or come by yourself. You will be amazed by how much your baby can communicate with their hands—even months before they can speak! This class is ideal for all children, including hearing, deaf and delayed speech children. Come and have a great time with your child. Plan to purchase a textbook. Conversational Japanese
The Japanese language is very different from English and other European languages. That doesn’t mean that Japanese is difficult! Gain a basic understanding of sentence structure and pronunciation. BEG class will cover basic Japanese letters, pronunciation, grammar, numbers, greetings and conversation. INT class will emphasize on reading and comprehension of Japanese characters as well as ability to use a Japanese dictionary. Plan to purchase the book Japanese The Easy Way for approximately $19 from the CTC Bookstore. Neggie Loudermilk, born and educated in Japan, has lived in the United States for almost 40 years and speaks both English and Japanese. (8 meetings)

Conversational Spanish
Get a thorough background in grammatical structures, vocabulary and phonetics with emphasis on correct pronunciation. Practice useful vocabulary in everyday Spanish conversation and discuss cultural and travel topics. BEG will include pronunciation, present tense, time, days of the week, colors and numbers. INT and ADV are for students who have mastered present tense and will cover additional vocabulary and tenses. Alba Garcia is a fluent Spanish speaker who was raised in Puerto Rico. French for Beginners
Ooh la laa…learn how to speak French and get a basic introduction to French culture. Class will focus on the alphabet, numbers and basic grammar. Students will also practice making introductions, asking for directions, ordering food, finding transportation and making hotel accommodations. Bring a pen and notebook to class. Beginning Chinese Culture and Language
Explore Chinese culture and learn the basics of Chinese writing. Students will discover the different meanings of Chinese characters and practice old and new styles of writing.
