Child Development Associate (CDA) Training I
The Council for Early Childhood Professional Recognition operates the CDA credentialing program as a major national effort to improve the quality of child care. Focusing on childcare provider skills, the program is designed to provide performance-based training plus assessment and credentialing of child care staff, family child care providers and home visitors. Training I, II and III may be taken in any order. Any of these classes can be used to complete the Resource File Requirement. In Training I, students will identify methods to advance physical and intellectual competence, describe the CDA process, develop general observation skills, and summarize basic child growth and development. Students will also utilize skills in writing, speaking, teamwork, time management and problem solving. In addition to 30 hours of classroom time, students are required to complete 34 hours of lab time. Plan to purchase a textbook, which is used for all three courses in the CDA series.
