Mr. Edwards was born in Greenville, Mississippi and enlisted in the U.S. Army as an Engineer Mechanic (heavy equipment repairman). Mr. Edwards received his Associate of Science degree from Austin Peay State University while assigned to the 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault) at Fort Campbell, Kentucky. While pursuing this degree, he attended classes during many field exercises and while attending Air Assault School. Mr. Edwards received a second Associate Degree from Central Texas College while assigned to the 1st Cavalry Division. After serving 20 years in the military, he retired at the grade of Master Sergeant.
Mr. Edwards pursued his interests in the field of technology and improving the quality of education for soldiers. He received his Bachelor of Computer Science and Master of Information Systems degrees from the University of Central Texas. After college, Mr. Edwards worked as a software engineer, writing programs in support of the Army's Force 21 modernization efforts. During this time, he taught part-time for the University of Central Texas, University of Mary Hardin-Baylor, Tarleton State University, and CTC until a full-time position at CTC became available.
Mr. Edwards now teaches beginning, intermediate, and advanced programming courses for Central Texas College. His classroom courses include Introduction to Computer Science and Programming, Computer Organization and Machine Language, Introduction to C Programming, Advanced C++ Programming, and Integrated Software Applications. |
