Mr. Eösze has been teaching various subjects off and on since 1981, his focus did not shift to computers until 2000.
His first "computer" was a slide-rule. He took his first computer course at UT Austin in the spring of 1971: Fortran, on a mainframe, using decks of cards for input. In 1988 the Army forced "these new-fangled contraptions on us" that required two floppy disks: one for the application, the other for holding data.
He first got seriously into computers when their Bernoulli Drive for the linguist database crashed. He learned how to get it all back using command-line input for DBase 3plus and he was fascinated, or as he said: "hooked". For his last 10 years in the Army he was a Battalion and Brigade level manager of Linguists and Security. As such, he has become intimately acquainted with spreadsheets and databases, and has seen how important their mastery is. His current interests include web-based programming and applications, and "a little VB".
Mr. Eösze started at CTC as a lab assistant and Project Pass instructor, then moved up to be the Lab Manager and Instructor. He loves imparting knowledge, and found that he can have lots of patience especially if he's not related to his students. |
