Mr. Ford has been working with computers since 1965. He currently works as an professor and network administrator for the Computer Science department.
While his current duties include overseeing the network's health, Mr. Ford is most interested in another field of computing. That field is programming, because unlike networking, it has numerous solutions to the same problem.
Mr. Ford's first computer was an Altair 8800; if you're wondering what that is, there's a wikipedia article on it here.
When asked, "What about the IT field made it the field you wanted to pursue as a profession?" Mr. Ford responded with "Getting paid to play with computers. Who wouldn't want to do that?"
Mr. Ford's reason for deciding to become a teacher was "No choice, I was abducted by the department chair at the time." |
