Fort Riley Central Texas College your GoArmyEd SchoolHow to Register
General Information: Central Texas College Fort Riley provides free college textbooks to all Fort Riley students both on-site and on-line. However, if a student is a Texas resident in the GoArmyEd portal, they must sign up for Texas GoArmyEd classes, which qualify them for in-state Texas tuition. As a result, we do not order on-line Texas resident's textbooks. For on-site classes everyone pays the same tuition therefore, free textbooks for all! If Texas residents do not want to pay for their textbooks I would recommend they choose an eArmyU class section, please keep in mind that these classes cost considerably more. It is important to mention that world-wide there are only 2 CTC campuses that have the free textbook policy- Fort Riley & Fort Bragg.
CTC is all over the world and as a result we have several different campuses. ALL For Riley students are Continental Campus students, all Texas residents are Texas students, any student who deploys and changes their address in the portal to APO AE are automatically placed in the European Campus. This complexity can result in confusion that is why we tell all our students to keep the lines of communication open. We regularly e-mail our students when they are actively in a class; we mentor our students electronically if they are not here in Kansas. If deployed Fort Riley Soldiers want to take advantage of our textbook program they can- they just need to leave their KANSAS ADDRESS in the portal and we will contact them after they sign up to get their address and send the books to Iraq, Afghanistan or wherever they are!
Please keep in mind that GoArmyEd is the only place an active Soldier can enroll, drop or withdraw. We always encourage CTC students to come to our office and use our student computers to enroll- we are here to walk them through the often complicated GoArmyEd enrollment process. Be aware that if a student enrolls in the wrong section they will automatically be dropped out within 24 hours. For example if a TX resident chooses a CONT section they will be dropped, if a downrange Soldier enrolls in a TX section they will be dropped. If you have any questions please contact any staff member in my office.
