Fort Leonard Wood
Central Texas College (CTC) has continuously offered college programs at Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri since 1976 as the first continental location. Initially, three vocational technical programs were offered in Automotive Services, Air Conditioning and Refrigeration, and Welding. In addition to college programs, CTC has continuously offered instructional training to include Leadership Skills Education Program (LSEP) and Functional Academic Skill Training (FAST).
Fort Leonard Wood is unique to CTC locations-at-a-distance, other than Fort Hood, Texas due to the school’s long-term lease on 29,000 square feet of dedicated classroom and laboratory space for instruction.
The Fort Leonard Wood site offers the following degree programs: Associate in Applied Science in the fields of: automotive mechanic/technician, business management, computer-aided drafting and design, criminal justice, early childhood professions, law enforcement, maintenance technology, office management and welding; Associate in General Studies; and an Associate in Arts in Business Administration.
The U.S. Army Maneuver Support Center and Fort Leonard Wood host the chemical, engineer and military police schools. Soldiers, Sailors, Marines, Airmen, Coastguardsmen and international students from allied nations receive training. The post is home of the 3rd Training Brigade where thousands of new recruits receive basic training.
The Fort Leonard Wood site also serves as the contact point for Fort Leonard Wood students wishing to take distance learning courses. Students register at the Fort Leonard Wood office. The site provides student services such as ordering text books for VA-31 students, provides third party billing for VA-31 students and serves as the test site for distance learning students.
The Fort Leonard Wood site relies on CTC’s continental and main campus in Killeen, Texas for support in the areas of curriculum, student services, marketing materials, human resource management, payroll services, long-term records management, employee benefits, instructor approvals and other support services the site cannot perform due to space limitations.
