Academics
Most traditional lecture courses will be delivered as real-time (synchronous) virtual lecture. Students will "meet" at specific days and times and interact with their professor and classmates just as they would in an on-campus classroom. Programs and classes that require an in-person component will be delivered as blended. These courses combine face-to-face and online, and require certain scheduled activities on campus or at a particular location, such as lectures, clinicals, or labs, while completing other activities online in Blackboard, such as submitting homework or participating in discussion boards. Of course, we continue to offer our online classes, which many students prefer due to the flexibility of scheduling your time to do class work.
For Industrial Technology programs, including welding, HVAC, Diesel, graphics and printing, automotive, and building trades, the first 40% of coursework is online and the remainder will be hands-on learning and testing individually or in small groups by appointment. Nursing will hold labs on campus and clinicals as they become available. For detailed information on a specific program, contact the Academic Department or Academic Advising.
Please reach out to your faculty member if you are struggling with your class. The faculty can give you best advice on managing the online learning environment. You can also reach out to Student Success and Persistence for help with tutoring and other supports. Send an email to success@ctcd.edu for help.
Some computer and internet resources are listed here. In addition, students may be eligible for CARES Act Funding or Eagle Aid to assist with necessary technology.
You can find troubleshooting information online, or contact 24/7 Blackboard Support at 866-350-4729.

Health & Safety
Yes. If you are on campus, you are required to wear a face mask or shield upon entering a building and interacting with others if social distancing cannot be maintained. Your face covering should you wear a mask that fully cover your mouth and nose. CTC asks that students come to campus with a mask of their own. More information is available at http://ctc4.me/covid-19-safety.
CTC follows guidance from local, state, and federal authorities and has implemented cleaning and sanitation protocols. More information may be found here http://ctc4.me/covid-19-safety.
Travel
Yes, but if you travel internationally or to U. S. Territories (Guam, American Samoa, Puerto Rico, U.S. Virgin Islands, and the Northern Mariana Islands), you will have to self-report to Student Success and Persistence using a student ETrieve form about your travel plans. Because of your travels, you might have to self-isolate prior to returning to campus. The Dean for Student Success and Persistence will communicate with you.
Student Support
All support departments are available remotely by phone, email or chat and limited in-person appointments are available for advising, financial aid, registration, ID cards and others. More details are available here.
CTC has many supports that can help students succeed and all are available remotely. Here are a few to check out:
Limited in-person appointments are available through the advising webpage. Alternately, students can schedule a virtual appointment online.
The testing center is available by appointment only. Information on how to make an appointment is available on the testing webpage.
If you are required to take the TSI Assessment but have not been able to do so, you may still enroll in classes after completing a short self-assessment, but you will need to take the TSIA before the end of your first semester enrolled. More information is available here. If you’d like to go ahead and take the TSI, the testing center is available by appointment.
The library computer lab will be available by appointment beginning July 27 (subject to change).
Students who need academic accommodations for a qualifying disability can complete the accommodation process online with Disability Support Services (DSS). For information on documentation requirements, instructions on how to request accommodations online, required DSS forms, DSS Student Handbook, and more, visit the DSS website at www.ctcd.edu/disability-support. For assistance with DSS services and accommodations, students may contact one of the following DSS Coordinators: Wilma Brown-Smith at wbrown@ctcd.edu or Ron Porter at ron.porter@ctcd.edu
Financial Aid/Veterans Assistance
The delivery method has no impact on the amount of aid or eligibility of financial aid. As long as classes are required for the degree plan and fit within each of the financial aid date ranges we will pay for the course.
Students who register in a class that is blended or scheduled to be taught in class and then (due to COVID) has to switch to online instruction anytime prior to December 21, 2020, will not cause a change in VA enrollment. However, registration in a TD (DISTANCE LEARNING) class will have to be certified as distance learning and if all classes are TD classes, that will impact BAH payments.
Contact the financial aid office if the income in the household for 2020 is significantly less than it was in 2018 which is the tax year used to complete the FAFSA for 20/21.
Library
There will be no late fines assessed from March through Aug 23, 2020. If you had previous holds or fines, please contact the library at referencerequest@ctcd.edu or 254-526-1621.

The computer lab will be available by appointment beginning July 27 (subject to change).
