Bell Tower Dr. entrances closed; take Clear Creek Rd. to access campus

Eastbound travelers to CTC and the Mayborn Planetarium may need to leave a little earlier to make it on time to class or a show as the Bell Tower Dr. entrance is now closed and will remain closed for approximately four more months.

Effective February 1, the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) switched traffic from the U.S. 190 westbound main lanes to the newly completed westbound roadway. With the switch, the westbound Bell Tower Drive entrance at CTC has been closed for the next four months which means anyone exiting CTC for Copperas Cove or points further west must now take Clear Creek Rd to westbound U.S, 190. Traffic from Killeen will still be able to exit at Bell Tower Drive to access the campus.

Also all eastbound traffic, from Copperas Cove and beyond, towards CTC must also use the Clear Creek Rd. exit to access CTC.

Drivers are encouraged to be prepared for longer lines at the light at Clear Creek and the U.S. 190 intersection and possibly the Clear Creek and University Dr. intersection.

Once complete, the U.S. 190 expansion project will provide additional roadway capacity with the addition of an inside travel lane in both east and westbound directions. Culverts and bridges will also be widened and a concrete traffic barrier will be permanently installed between opposing travel lanes. Scheduled completion date is fall 2008.
