CTC
awarded two Far East military contracts
Central
Texas College (CTC) was recently awarded two five-year military
contracts by the U.S. Pacific Command (USPACOM to continue
providing education services to the military and dependents.
Valued at $17.5 million, the new contract begins May 1,
2009, and includes five option years. The contracts include
all Army, Navy, Air Force and Marine Corps institutions
in Korea, mainland Japan, Okinawa, Guam, Thailand, Kwajalein
Atoll, Australia, Diego Garcia in the Indian Ocean and Singapore.
The
first contract calls for CTC to continue its high school
and academic skills programs through its American Preparatory
Institute (API). Both programs utilize an individualized,
self-paced modularized curriculum which has been approved
by the Texas Education Agency and accredited by the Southern
Association of Colleges and Schools.
The
agreement's second contract involves undergraduate and technical/occupational
programs. CTC offers associate degree programs in the following
areas of study: applied management/technical, microcomputer
applications, food services management, aviation maintenance
technology, law enforcement, legal assistant, office management,
fire protection technology and early childhood professions.
The courses will be offered in a variety of media including
traditional classroom, alternate delivery and mixed format.
CTC
also provides non-credit job-related training in the areas
of English as a second language, emergency medical technician
(EMT), unit armorer, MOS training and foreign language courses.
“CTC

ensuring service members have the best educational outlets
possible,” said CTC Chancellor, Dr. James R. Anderson. “Our
new agreement with the Pacific Far East is a testament to
our commitment and we are honored and proud USPACOM recognizes
that commitment. And to further enrich that commitment we
will continue to seek ways to enhance our educational service
offerings to the military.”
