art show winners announced
Several
students in the Central Texas College Fine Arts Department
were recognized recently for outstanding work using various
art media during the school's annual Student Art Show. The
show featured works from studio classes held in the fall
2009 and spring 2010 semesters.
Awards
of merit were presented to Amber Crimmings, for her acrylic
painting “Chaotic Beauty;” Amie Gandy for the “Golden Sands”
clay pot; Dara Holdstock for her silver cuff bracelet; Joe
Collins for his “Crawfish” silver ring; Natasha Campbell
for her photograph entitled “Stripes on Stripes;” and Rose
Garcia for assorted clay figures.
Entries
in the Student Art Show included works of charcoal studies
of the human form by the figure drawing classes; digital
collage and painting by students in Photoshop; and acrylic,
oil and mixed media paintings. 3-D design students exhibited
sculptures in the round using a variety of materials and
techniques while art metals students presented metal pieces
that were hand-worked as well as cast-created into both
wearable and decorative items.
Students
in the ceramics classes displayed clay vessels constructed
by traditional hand-building techniques while photography
students presented a variety of photographic techniques
from the traditional dark room-oriented works to computer
manipulated works and mixed media compositions.
