holds graduation ceremony
Central
Texas College conducted its spring commencement ceremony
Friday, May 7 at the Bell County Expo Center. Nearly 300
graduates received associate degrees in general studies,
applied science, arts, science as well as certificates of
completion. Keynote speaker for the event was Lieutenant
General Rick Lynch, commanding general IMCOM, who also had
the pleasure of presenting his son, Lucas, with his Associate
Degree in Applied Science – restaurant and culinary management.
The
average age of graduates was 32 years old with the oldest
graduate being 61. The youngest graduate, Alicia Shatto,
who is 18, received an Associate of General Studies Degree.
She will receive her diploma from Harker Heights High School
next month.
In
addition to Gen. Lynch and his son, another family connection
was made as CTC employee Martiza Parker and her son Ronnie,
Jr. both received general studies degrees. Other married
couples were presented degrees as well.
Students
traveled from CTC continental campuses in Europe and sites
across the country including Colorado , Florida, Illinois,
North Carolina and Louisiana to participate in the graduation
service. Nearly 130 soldiers, six Marines, three Navy personnel
and more than 70 military dependents earned associate degrees
or certificates of completion.
