Hunt
named new CTC central campus dean
Central
Texas College (CTC) recently announced the appointment of
John Hunt as the new dean of the central campus operations.
He replaced Don Mikles who retired after 37 years of service.
A
native of Jacksonville, FL, Hunt
earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in literature (1987) and
a master's degree in English (1990) from the University
of North Florida. He began his career in higher education
while attending Florida Community College at Jacksonville
working as a tutor in the Learning Assistance Center. After
completing his bachelor's degree, Hunt began teaching English
and social studies in the Florida Community College-Jacksonville
(FCCJ) adult high school program and the school's developmental
studies writing courses. After completing his master's degree,
he taught college composition and literature courses as
an adjunct and full-time faculty member at FCCJ, where he
continued to teach year-round until 2006.
Hunt
first joined Central Texas College in 1990, serving as a
part-time instructor both ashore and afloat in the CTC Navy's
Basic Skills Program. From 1995 to 2006 he served as assistant
site manager and then site manager responsible for coordinating
the NCPACE program at CTC's Mayport, FL site. During this
time he also continued to teach for FCCJ at area Navy bases.
Since
April 2006, Hunt served as associate dean of CTC Navy Programs
– Atlantic, headquartered in Norfolk , VA. There he administered
all aspects of the Atlantic Fleet's NCPACE operations and
taught composition courses part-time for Tidewater Community
College and CTC. Now relocated to the Killeen campus, Hunt
began his new role of central campus dean May 24.
