SIFE Team donates food to "can" hunger
The
Central Texas College (CTC) Students In Free Enterprise
(SIFE) Team donated nearly 500 poundsoffood to the Copperas
Cove Food Bank this week. Thedonation marked the culmination
of the three-month “Let's Can Hunger Challenge,” food drive
sponsored by Campbell Soup. The competition tasked SIFE
teams across the country to participate in a series of contests
focused on generating awareness about hunger as well as
coordinating local hunger relief efforts.
During
the food drive, SIFE members set up drop-off locations across
campus so students and employees could donate non-perishable
food items such as canned soup, canned vegetables, rice,
pasta and cereal. The donation of 491 pounds of food to
the Cove Food Bank represented half of the total items collected.
The other half of the donations will soon be given to the
Killeen Food Care Center.
In addition to food
items, SIFE also presented the Cove Food Bank with a check
for $122. |
