Our Pension Plan Recordkeeper

On September 1, 2012, our QPP and SPP pension plan record keeper changed from VALIC to TIAA-CREF Retirement Services.  TIAA-CREF is the largest provider of pension services in the higher education field.

Large pension plans usually engage a professional pension plan recordkeeper to provide a variety of services to their plan members.  For example, pension plan recordkeepers maintain the software platform that keeps track of our accounts, they send out our quarterly statements, they process our distributions, they answer inquiries from account holders, and they coordinate with the investment companies in the plan's investment portfolio.

ONLINE ACCESS: Plan members can log into their individual web pages on the TIAA-CREF site to view their accounts and initiate transactions. In order to access your account, you will need your "TIAA Account Number". That number is contained in the "TIAA-CREF Enrollment Confirmation" that you received in the mail. If you did not receive your "TIAA-CREF Enrollment Confirmation" call the TIAA-CREF Call Center. After you have your “TIAA Account Number”, go to TIAA-CREF/CTC website and click on the "REGISTER FOR ACCESS" link in the ALREADY ENROLLED? box to the right of the screen. Complete the registration process, and then you will be able to access your account at any time.


DISTRIBUTION (Taking money from your pension account): For distribution forms or information, call the TIAA-CREF Call Center. Note: CTC Employee Benefits no longer has these forms. TIAA-CREF prefers that plan members use the online form or obtain their forms directly from them.

BENEFICIARY DESIGNATION: For beneficiary designation forms and instructions, call the TIAA-CREF Call Center. Note: beneficiary information did not rollover from the previous record keeper, VALIC Retirement Services.
