Meet
The President
Dr. Gene Silverblatt 's relationship with CTC goes back to
1982 as an instructor at the Fort Hood campus while stationed
there. In 1985 he left active duty and opened up his own law
firm in the area, concentrating in elder law, estate planning,
probate and guardianship law. In addition to his law practice,
he is the program director of the Legal Assistant / Paralegal
Program at CTC and is a senior officer in the Judge Advocate
General's Corps – Reserves. Currently, he has been
recalled to active duty. Dr. Silverblatt is academically
well credentialed, holding a Doctorate of Jurisprudence (law)
and a post doctorate degree in military law, and is a graduate
of the Army's Command and General Staff College. He is also
very involved in the Central Texas community having served
as President of the area's largest Rotary Club. President
of Big Brothers/Big Sisters, and on the executive boards of
the areas chapters of The Red Cross, Salvation Army, American
Heart Association and Central Texas College 's Foundation
Board and has received many awards including the CTC Faculty
Senate's award for Outstanding Community Involvement and Leadership
Killeen's Outstanding Leader award. But don't think all that
work has left him without a keen sense of humor – his ranch
south of Killeen is named The Bar Mitzvah!
