Project PASS is part of Student Support Services within CTC's Guidance and Counseling Department. Project PASS provides academic support tutorial and study skills assistance to Central Texas College students. Textbook loan assistance is also provided to technical/vocational and economically disadvantaged students. More detailed descriptions of Project PASS services are provided below.
Tutorial Assistance:
- Project PASS provides free tutorial assistance to students completing requirements for technical or vocational degree plans and certificates or Skills Center certificate programs.
- The academic program provides free tutorial assistance for academic majors (Associate of Art, Associate of Science, Associate of General Studies, or approved transfer degree plans).
- Tutorial assistance is offered to students who are attending classes on the Central Texas College main campus, the Fort Hood campus, Service Area, or taking classes online or through distance learning.
Study Skills Assistance:
Project PASS sponsors a variety of workshops
throughout each semester to include:
- Time Management
- How to Read a College Textbook
- Effective Note-taking Skills
- How to Take College Exams
- Term Papers
- Dealing with Stress or Test Anxiety
Textbook Lending Library:
Textbook loan assistance is provided to technical/vocational students who meet the economic guidelines.
Because there is a limited amount of funds available, all qualified applicants may not be able to take advantage of this program. Students are eligible to borrow textbooks for up to three years unless they have been admitted to or are on the waiting list for the Nursing Program.
Walk-in Workshops:
Project PASS provides walk-in assistance throughout the semester in Developmental Math, College Algebra, Trigonometry, Developmental Reading, Developmental Writing, English, Government, History, Sociology, Psychology, Spanish, Anatomy, Chemistry, and Accounting.
Supplemental Instructions (SI):
Supplemental Instructions (SI) is an academic assistance program that increases student performance and retention. The SI program targets traditionally difficult academic courses and provides regularly scheduled, out-of-class sessions.
Computer Assistance:
Project PASS provides computer assistance to students.
Child Care:
Our Program offers assistance for technical/vocational students who meet the Carl D. Perkins guidelines for services. The Student Support Services Child Care Assistance office has moved to Project PASS and is now located in Bldg. 106 room 106. Child Care Assistance can be reached by calling (254)526-1357.
