- Question: When am I able to start using my Educational Benefits?
Answer: As a full-time employee you are eligible to start using Educational Benefits for CTC courses after you have completed your initial training period. If you, the employee, wants to take courses at another institution, you must be employed with CTC full-time for no less than one year.
As a part-time employee you are eligible to start using Educational Benefits for CTC courses once you have worked 2,080 hours or teach 10 courses. If you want to take courses at another institution you must work 4,160 hours or teach 20 courses. - Question: Are dependents covered under Educational Benefits?
Answer: As a full-time employees yes. Dependents are covered under CTC courses only. We will cover 50% of tuition only. A dependent is considered a lawful spouse or unmarried dependent child under the age of 23 years old.
As a part-time employee dependents are not eligible.
- Question: Do you have to fill out a FAFSA form before using Educational Benefits?
Answer: Yes. Any Texas employee taking a CTC college credit course would need to complete and submit the FAFSA form before being approved for Educational Benefits. Employee Benefits would need a printed confirmation of submission. You would only need to do one per academic year. - Question: Can you receive an additional discount on books through Educational Benefits?
Answer: Yes. As of January 1, 2007, any employee using Educational Benefits is eligible for a 25% discount at the CTCD bookstore for the required textbook. - Question: How much money do I have in my TRS account?
Answer: You would need to contact TRS at 1-800-223-8778. - Question: When will I receive my health ID cards?
Answer: ERS sends your information to your health plan usually within two weeks of your start date with your health plan. You should receive your ID cards sometime near the end of the month after your start date. - Questions: Who do I contact to change my PCP on my health plan?
Answer: You would need to contact your health plan and they will make those changes for you.
