Disable Use Cached Exchange Mode in MS Outlook

  1. DISCUSSION

The delivery of e-mail to a recipient’s Microsoft Outlook inbox can sometimes be delayed if the Use Cached Exchange Mode is activated. Under normal circumstances, e-mail sent through the CTC communications network should take less than one minute to arrive in a recipient’s inbox after it has been sent. E-mail sent to mailboxes outside the CTC communications network may take longer than a minute due to traffic on the recipient’s e-mail service provider. Follow the steps below to insure that e-mail delivery in Microsoft Outlook is not delayed.

  1. PROCEDURE

To disable Use Cached Exchange Mode:

  1. Open Microsoft Outlook.

  2. Click the Tools tab and click Email Accounts (see figure 1).

  1. Click Next (see figure 2). Do not change of the setting in this window.

  1. Click the Change Button (see Figure 3). Again, do not make any changes on this page.

  1. Uncheck the Use Cached Exchange Mode checkbox (see Figure 4). Click Next to proceed.

  1. Click Finish.

  2. Close Microsoft Outlook and open it again for the changes to take effect.
