Setting your cookie preferences in Internet Explorer or Netscape Browser will prevent harmful cookies from being stored on your hard drive. Cookies can contain viruses, Trojan horses, or provide other websites the ability to send spam or pop-ups to your computer.
PROCEDURE
To set your cookies settings in Internet Explorer:
Open Internet Explorer.
Click Tools and click Internet Options at the bottom of the menu.

Using the scroll bar select “medium” or “high” as your security setting.
Medium permits safe browsing and is still functional, prompts the user before downloading potentially unsafe content, does not download unsigned ActiveX controls, and is appropriate for most Internet sites.
High is the safest way to browse the Internet but it is also the least functional, less secure features are disabled, and is the appropriate setting for sites that might have harmful content (i.e. viruses).
To set your cookies settings in Netscape Browser:
Open Netscape Browser.
Click Tools and click Options in the drop-down menu.
Click the Privacy icon.
Click the plus sign “+” next to Cookies.
Select “Keep Cookies” and select how long you want to maintain cookies on your computer (see Figure 2).

Click Clear.
Click OK in the Confirm Clear Histories window.
- Click OK in the Options window.
