
New Desktop Technician I - posted December 8, 2008
The CTC IT Division recently hired Violeta Uribe as a new Desktop Technician I. Formerly of Bellflower, CA, Violeta joined the U.S. Army in 1998 as a Telecommunications Operator and Maintainer.
Violeta served as an Information Systems Security Office assistant with the 1st Infantry Division in Wurzburg, Germany. She transferred to Fort Hood in January 2003. While at Fort Hood, she served as a Computer Analyst and Data and Voice Network Administrator. During deployment for Operation Iraqi Freedom, she worked on integrating the configuration and management of VOIP telephone systems, data networks, and MSE networks. Violeta left the Army in May 2005 and began attending college on a full-time basis.
Violeta graduated from CTC with Honors with an Associate in General Studies degree in December 2006. She currently attends Tarleton State University – Central Texas where she is pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Computer Information Systems with a major in networking and a minor in business administration. She is a member of the Epsilon Delta Pi Computer Science Honor Society and plans to graduate in May 2009.
New Programmer/Analyst - posted November 12, 2008
The Information Systems Department welcomes its newest programmer/analyst, Frank Frabel, who has worked as a Desktop Technician in the Customer Service Department for the past two years. Frank comes to the Information Systems Department with a wealth of experience in information technology including programming. He has worked in information technology since 1986 and has worked as a computer and network specialist and programmer. He has worked as a system and database administrator around the world across Europe, West Africa, and the Caribbean Islands. In Germany, he worked as the leader of a user support and training team that was responsible for 600 users. Frank also worked as a freelance IT consultant and IT instructor before coming to the United States in 2004.
Frank is a certified A+ technician. He holds certifications in MCP, MCSA, MCSE and is an MS Exchange Specialist. He has also worked as a Novell System Administrator and Sun Office Software Migration Consultant.
Frank is well-known to the CTC community and brings diverse technical skills and experience to the Information Systems team. Presently, Frank is engaged in learning the Colleague modules and database, Envision Toolkit, and how to navigate Datatel’s Web site to build his knowledge base.New Desktop Technician I - posted August 14, 2008
The CTC IT Division welcomes Michelle Williams back as the new Desktop Technician I. Michelle previously worked in the IT Division as a Help Desk Technician from July 2006 to November 2007. In November 2007, Michelle left to spend time with her newborn daughter and work on her Bachelor’s degree in Networking at Tarleton State University – Central Texas. Prior to returning to the IT Division, Michelle worked, as a lab assistant, on a part-time basis for the CTC Electronics Department.
Service Temporarily Suspended - posted July 29, 2008

New IT Help Desk Technician - posted July 17, 2008
The CTC IT Division welcomes our newest IT Help Desk Technician, Uruwishi “Wish” Holzhausen. Wish comes to IT with over four years of experience working with non-profit organizations and computer retail stores. He has worked with non-profit organizations, such as churches and schools, setting up media centers, networks, and multi-projection displays. He has worked in the retail industry as a computer support technician, network support technician, and computer sales associate. During this time, Wish earned several CompTIA certifications to include A+ Hardware/Software and Network Support. Currently, Wish is a student at CTC working on his Associates of Applied Science in Information Technology. In addition to his computer skills, Wish is a trained pilot and has flown for recreation and private services in Florida and Virginia.
New IT Network Administrator - posted June 17, 2008
The IT Division congratulates Donald Wright on his recent hire as the new IT Network Administrator. He fills the position recently vacated by Kemar Carridge, who is now the Division’s IT Network Planning Analyst. He was hired in April of 2007 as a Tech I in the Desktop Services Department. Donald earned his Associates in Applied Science in Network Professional Specialization from Central Texas College in 2007. In addition to his Associates Degree, Donald currently holds a CompTIA A+ Certified Professional certificate and a Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) certificate.
New IT Network Planning Analyst - posted May 23, 2008
Congratulations to Kemar Carridge. Kemar has been hired as the new IT Network Planning Analyst for the CTC IT Division. He will be responsible for communicating and presenting complex network issues and analysis to IT management, configuring Cisco routers and switches, troubleshooting network hardware, software, and routing problems, and researching network routing technologies.

New IT Help Desk Manager - posted May 12, 2008
Trevor Smith replaces Dena Wilks as the IT Help Desk Manager on May 16, 2008. Trevor began working at Central Texas College in October 2006 as an IT Help Desk Technician. Trevor has made his presence known by becoming the “Voice” you hear on the telephone system recording and the “Face” on the CTC Schedule bulletin. Congratulations to Trevor on his new position.

The IT Division hired Cliff Gaines as the Division’s IT Network Engineer. Working with the IT Network Planning Analyst and IT Network Administrator, the IT Network Engineer is principally responsible for designing, engineering, and implementing the College’s data communications network.
Staff Departure - posted May 12, 2008
IT Help Desk Manager Dena Wilks has submitted her resignation effective May 15, 2008. Dena has decided to pursue her degree in Equine Science full time from Tarleton State University.
Dena was hired as an Application Support Specialist in November 2002. Late in 2003, she was hired as a Computer Support Technician II. When IT reorganized in 2004, Dena was hired as the IT Help Desk Manager. Dena has brought an upbeat and friendly personality to the Help Desk that has made it a customer-friendly service to the CTC community.
The IT Division appreciates everything Dena has done and accomplished over the past 6 years. She will be sorely missed and we wish her the best.

Congratulations to DeShawn Jones on his graduation from Central Texas College Friday, May 9, 2008. DeShawn, an IT Help Desk Technician, earned his Associates of Applied Science Degree in Network Professional Specialization. DeShawn plans on taking the Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) exam later this summer.

New Staff - February 6, 2008
The CTC IT Division welcomes DeShawn Jones, our new IT Help Desk Technician. DeShawn is originally from Chicago, Illinois and is married with a 7-month-old daughter. An Iraq War veteran, he served in the Army for 11 years as a Multiple Launch Rocket system Fire Direction and Control NCO. After serving in the Army, he worked as a Geek Squad Agent at Best Buy in Killeen, a Technical Support Intern at the Texas Workforce Commission, and a lab assistant in the Electronics Department at CTC. DeShawn has earned a Computer Electronics Technician Certificate and is currently finishing his Associates of Applied Science degree as a Network Engineer. He plans to earn a Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology from Tarleton State University – Central Texas.

IT Service Announcement - January 24, 2008
The IT Division will begin distributing the latest version of the Symantec antivirus software via the CTC data communications network on Thursday, January 24, 2008 beginning at or about 8:30 a.m. This process should be transparent with negligible impact on the performance of the network
All computers connected to the CTC network will need to powered-on to receive the software update. Lab computers will be unavailable while the update is in progress.

The CTC Information Technology Division welcomes David Rolfe the new IT Windows System Administrator. David left the Air Force in 2007 after a five-year career as a Computer Systems Network Journeyman. He has earned two Associates of Applied Science degrees, one in Television and Radio Production from CTC and the other in Information Systems Technology from the Community College of the Air Force. David plans to earn a Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology from Tarleton State University. David is married and has a 3 year-old daughter.
