The Academic Studio - Student Success Center Child Care Assistance service provides qualified Career and Technical Education students attending Central Campus with financial assistance to help offset daycare expenses while attending school. Qualified students receive assistance  ($800 per child, per semester) for up to 3 children.   

  

Initial Eligibility: The CTC Childcare Assistance initiative is federally funded by the Carl D. Perkins Career and Technical Education Act  and supports financially and academically qualified students with a major/concentration in Career and Technical Education AAS degrees or certificate programs. The service does not support General or Interdisciplinary studies programs, or transfer programs that lead to Bachelor's degrees. Core curriculum courses directly related to AAS or certificate programs are supported if listed on an eligible student's official degree plan.

Service Requirements:  After meeting initial eligibility requirements, students must meet all of the following criteria:

  • Must be a full-time CTC student taking the majority percentage of courses in the classroom or CTE self-paced.
  • Must demonstrate financial need and meet household income requirements.
  • Must have a cumulative GPA of 2.0 and maintain a minimum 2.0 or higher for the term.

Documentation: All documentation must be submitted together. Only completed application packets will be considered.  A completed application packet includes all of the following:

  • Child Care Assistance Application
  • Copy of official Degree Plan
  • Copy of CTC Pell Grant Award letter or other qualifying documents (WIC, TANF, or Food Stamps award letter, or 1040 income tax form for previous year).
  • New or current semester course schedule confirming required number of credit hours in required classes.
  • Birth Certificate(s) for child(ren) 3 maximum.
  • Proof of agreement with Licensed child care provider (your selected provider must be licensed and agree to participate in the program).

Priorities for Funding:  Students with completed application packets who meet all eligibility criteria will be prioritized for funding on the following criteria:

  • Students receiving child care assistance from the previous semester.
  • Cumulative GPA and previous semester’s GPA.
  • Graduation date.

*Meeting eligibility and program requirements does not guarantee that assistance will be available. Funds are available on a first come, first served basis.

Terms of Assistance Awards:

  • Students awarded assistance will receive $800 per child (3 children max) per semester for a maximum of up to $2,400 for the term.
  • Funds will be divided into four monthly payments sent directly to the approved day care facility or child care provider by the college.
  • Any additional costs over the allotted monthly award is the responsibility of the student.
  • Students reapply and certify eligibility each semester.
  • Funds will be suspended and/or discontinued for students that drop or are withdrawn from their courses, or who no longer meet the eligibility requirements stipulated above.

Applications for Textbook Lending and Childcare Assistance will open July 24 for the Fall semester.
