CTC again cited as one of the best colleges to work for

For the second consecutive year, Central Texas College (CTC) was named to The Chronicle of Higher Education’s list of great colleges to work for in 2011. Recognized schools were recently listed in The Chronicle’s report on The Academic Workplace. The results were based on a survey of more than 44,000 employees at 310 colleges and universities across the country. Read More

CTC again named to military-friendly school list

Central Texas College has once again been named to the list of the top military-friendly schools according to G.I. Jobs magazine. The list honors the top 15 percent of colleges, universities and trade schools which are doing the most to embrace America’s veterans as students. The 2011 list was compiled through exhaustive research starting last April during which G.I. Jobs polled more than 7,000 schools nationwide. Criteria for making the Military-Friendly list included efforts to recruit and retain military and veteran students, results in recruiting military and veteran students and academic accreditations. Your college library is always open

The CTC Hobby Memorial Library at http://www.ctcd.edu/library/pg-lib.htm offers lots of reference and reading material online, available to all students, staff and faculty. The library periodically selects different databases to pilot on the library website. The most recent additions are EasyBib and NewsBank. Read More

  • Central Texas College Europe Campus annual commencement ceremony 2011

  • Central Texas College Europe Campus held its annual commencement ceremony on 15th June 2011 at CTC headquarters, Mannheim, Germany. Guest Speaker was Dr. James R. Anderson, Chancellor of Central Texas College. Graduates attended from all over Germany and from the Benelux. Graduation ceremonies were also held at Naples and Vicenza, Italy.

  • Criminal Justice Students hold Mock Court Trial

  • The students of class CJSA 1313 Court Systems and Practices prepared for and carried out a mock trial in front of the base Staff Judge Advocate, Lt Cdr Todd Kline in Rota, Spain recently. The instructor Michael Stephens taught the students how to act as defendants, plaintiffs, and lawyers, and to present an actual case to a judge and jury. The jury members were brought in from the local command and the judge held the students to stringent court standards. A verdict was reached based on the arguments and evidence presented by the students.

  • Central Texas College plays a leading role in Wounded Warrior Benefit event at Rota, Spain.

  • Generous donations were raised during a recent charity golf tournament held at the Naval Base in Rota Spain for Explosive Ordnance Disposal wounded warriors. Central Texas College’s Rota Office along with the local EOD team planned, organized and executed this very successful event. As was said by the event organizers “This event was such a success due primarily to the participation of our local college institution Central Texas College."

  • Mediterranean Region Field Representative workshop, held recently in Aviano, Italy

  • The Regional Staff of the Mediterranean Area hosted their annual staff training in May in Aviano, Italy. Field Representatives took part in small group workshops led by Terry Cramer, Area Manager; Sue Andrews, Regional Student Services Officer; Lourdes Fernandez Academic Program Manager and Bret Duncan, Senior Field Representative. Awards were presented for outstanding employees of the quarter.

  • Commencement Ceremony 2011

  • Are you a student within 3-9 credits of completing your degree with CTC? If so, you may be eligible to participate in one of our graduation ceremonies celebrating your achievement! Central Texas College Europe’s annual graduation ceremony will be held on June 15th, 2011 at Coleman Barracks in Mannheim, Germany. Ceremonies will also be held at several military installations in Italy and also downrange. All CTC students who have graduated in the past year, or have applied for May and August 2011 graduation are welcome to “walk” at one of these events.
