How Online Courses Work
Is online learning right for you?
Online learning provides flexibility, convenience and portability—but it’s not for everyone. Is it right for you? To be successful in an online class, you should have:
- Basic computer and internet skills
- Time management skills
- Self motivation
- The ability to work independently
- Good reading comprehension skills
What are the technical requirements?
All assignments, tests, and correspondence with faculty and other students are conducted 100% online. The ability to correspond via e-mail, send, receive, and view documents, participate in threaded discussions, and have access to a reliable Internet connection is mandatory.
You are responsible for providing a computer, software, and Internet connection for your classes. Please see the requirements at this link for the minimum computer requirements:

How do online courses work?
You will access your course online through a program called “Blackboard.” Blackboard is a Web-based course-management system designed to allow students and faculty to participate in classes delivered online or use online materials and activities to complement face-to-face teaching. Blackboard enables instructors to provide students with course materials, discussion boards, virtual chat, online quizzes, an academic resource center, and more. Most students find Blackboard very intuitive and easy to use; students often don’t require any special Blackboard training.
Course Access is available 72 hours before classes start.
