Best Value Schools recently ranked Central Texas College (CTC) among the top 10 schools in the nation for online programs. Of the 1,100 community colleges ranked in the study, CTC was ranked number nine in the country and the only Texas school to make the top 10.

To compile its rankings, Best Value Schools focused on the number of online degrees offered, retention rate and graduation rate for each state. Once it identified the best online schools in each state, Best Value Schools then ranked the top 50 schools based on:

•Their selection of online degrees and certificates (including hybrid programs with at least 75 percent of coursework available at a distance)

•Undergraduate retention rate (the percentage of new students who returned to the school for a second year)

•Undergraduate graduation rate

•The annual total cost of in-state tuition and fees

All the information used in the ranking came from either the Integrated Postsecondary Education Data System (IPEDS), the related College Navigator database or directly from the colleges’ official websites. After calculating the results for each school in each category, Best Value Schools added up the point totals and assigned final scores.
