Transfer Day

Central Texas College (CTC) students looking to move on to a four-year university upon completing their time here can gain much-needed information during Transfer Day on September 27. The annual event, sponsored by the CTC guidance and counseling department, allows students to meet with recruiters from many universities and schools across Texas and the country to see what these schools have to offer. Transfer Day will be held in the Upper Student Center (Bldg. 106) from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Representatives from more than 30 universities and schools such as the University of Texas, Prairie View A&M, UT-Arlington, ITT Technical Institute, Texas A&M, San Angelo State University and more will be available to share information about transfer requirements, deadline applications, financial aid, scholarships, student housing options and all other information needed to make a smooth transition to a four-year university.

For those students who are not sure where they want to transfer, Transfer Day is the perfect opportunity to learn about other universities. Transfer Day can help a student decide where they want to finish their college education. By meeting with the various representatives and learning what each school has to offer can certainly make the transfer decision much clearer and easier. For more information, call 254-526-1667.

Second Tuesday

This month, a performance from Ballet Folklorico will be held in honor of Hispanic Heritage Month on September 14 from 6 – 8 p.m. Ballet Folklorico is an award-winning local dance troupe steeped in Mexican culture and tradition. The event is free and open to everyone.

e2Campus emergency alerts[Top]

CTC recently implemented a new and free emergency alert system to notify students and employees of any campus closings and emergency situations in the immediate vicinity which may affect CTC. The new campus emergency alert system, e2Campus, is now live on WebAdvisor and offers text, e-mail and voice notifications of campus emergencies, school closings, evacuations and other important notices. These include severe and inclement weather, a power outage, police or fire emergency, catastrophe and exposure to hazardous material. For students en route to class or still at home, the system will help warn them not to come to campus when there is an emergency. And for those students already on campus, it will assist them in following the necessary precautions and evacuation procedures.

To receive the CTC emergency alerts, students must subscribe to the system online from CTC's Webadvisor page by clicking the "CTC Emergency Alert" icon. Once a student accesses the log-in page, they will be prompted to set up an account. There they will establish their private password and choose how they want to receive the alert. Once the selections are made, activation is immediate. The subscription is free but if students choose to receive text message alerts, standard text message charges from their wireless service provider may apply. Each subscription will be valid for one academic year and changes to the choice of alert receipt method may be changed at any time during the year. For instructions to subscribe to e2Campus, use the following link: http://www.ctcd.edu/texasalert/index.htm or find the link on WebAdvisor.
