The one-year Vocational Nursing Program is a credit program involving 12 months of study beginning in late August. The program consists of 53 credit hours over three semesters. Upon graduation, students receive a Certificate of Completion and become candidates for the State Board Licensing Examination. The candidate who successfully passes the State Board Examination may practice as a Licensed Vocational Nurse. The Vocational Nursing Program is approved by the Board of Nurse Examiners of the State of Texas. Classroom instruction is conducted at the Heart of Texas Memorial Hospital. Clinical instruction takes place at the Heart of Texas Memorial Hospital and the Nursing Homes in Brady. In addition, students travel to Brownwood three days a week from January through June for clinical experience at Brownwood Regional Medical Center. The hours of attendance during the Brownwood rotation are 12:30 p.m. until 8:00 p.m.
