CTC-Texas Graduation Ceremony – Fall 2017


Congratulations on your academic achievement! We hope to provide you with a memorable graduation ceremony.

Central Texas College in Killeen, Texas, holds a commencement ceremony at the end of the spring semester. Graduates who graduated in August or December of this year are eligible to participate in the ceremony. All students are encouraged to apply for graduation. There is no fee for graduation, but each graduate must purchase a cap and gown for the ceremony.

Graduation Orientation Session

Please attend one of the two orientation sessions listed below to ensure your participation in the ceremony. The orientation will be held on the CTC Central Campus in Killeen, Texas, at the Anderson Campus Center (Bldg. 156). You will be provided an opportunity to sign a photo release at orientation.

There is no need to attend both sessions as the same information is presented at both times listed.


Commencement Day Information


Graduates should arrive at Bell County Expo Center no later than 5:15 pm. Signs will be posted directing you to the Graduate Area, where you will pick up you name card.  Additional instructions will then be given to you by the Advisor assigned to your area.

If you were unable to attend either of the Orientation sessions, please let a staff member know so you can be directed to a briefing.

Bring your cap, gown, and tassel.

Plan to leave handbags and other valuables with family or friends.

Cap, Gown, and Tassel

You can purchase the black graduation gown, cap, and tassel from the Central Texas College Bookstore. The cost is approximately $30.58 subject to change. You may place an order on the CTC website or visit the Bookstore in Bldg. 156 on the Central Campus. The Bookstore is open Monday, Tuesday and Thursday, 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., Wednesday, 7:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. and Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. You may contact the Bookstore at 254-526-1219 if you have additional questions.


To participate in the ceremony, you must be dressed in the appropriate cap and gown. Tassels are worn to the right. You will be prompted to move your tassel to the left toward the end of the ceremony. Accessories are limited to the Central Texas College issued cords and/or pins; and stoles, tassels, cords, and medallions representing membership in CTC sponsored honor societies. Decorations of mortarboards must be academic in nature and affiliated with your program of study or celebration as a CTC graduate.


A professional photographer from Flash Photography will be at the ceremony to take a photograph as you receive your diploma. Flash Photography will send you a proof and an order form in the mail. However, if you requested your name and address not to be released by the college, you will not receive a proof and order form in the mail. Further information will be provided at the orientation. Please do not invite other professional photographers to the ceremony. Any professional photographers other than Flash Photography will not be allowed.

Family and guests are allowed to take photographs from their seats. However, no one is allowed to block the aisles or enter the arena floor to take photographs during the ceremony. (After the ceremony, graduates will be dismissed on the floor and family and friends may join them.)

Television Coverage

KNCT-TV will broadcast the graduation ceremony live at 6:30 pm December 8 on channel 46.3 (Create channel) with a repeat broadcast at 10 p.m. on Channel 46.1.  The ceremony will also be broadcast at 1 pm on Saturday December 9 on channel 46.1 and 11 pm on Sunday December 10 at 11pm on channel 46.1. KNCT channel 46.1 broadcasts on channel 4 on most local cable systems.  If you are not a cable subscriber, KNCT can be viewed on channel 46.

DVDs of Ceremony

DVDs will be available for purchase. An order form will be included in your graduation program. Several options for ordering DVDs are available. You may order DVDs on the day of graduation as a KNCT-TV table will be available in the main lobby of the Bell County Expo Center. You may drop off the order form with payment at the KNCT-TV office located on the Central Campus in Bldg. 109, Room 124; or mail the form with payment to KNCT, Central Texas College, PO Box 1800, Killeen, TX 76540. On Demand

The broadcast of the graduation ceremony will be available for viewing online December 15. Log-on to then select KNCT-TV videos on demand.


You will be handed an empty diploma cover during the ceremony. As you leave the ceremony, please return your diploma cover to a CTC staff member located at the exits of the Expo Center arena floor or to the Alumni and Friends Association table located near the front lobby of the Expo Center. Diplomas with covers are mailed to each graduate upon completion of all requirements and processing by the graduation staff. If your address has changed since you filed for graduation, update your address by sending an email to or calling (254) 526-1592.

Graduation Etiquette

  • College staff will organize the processional. Please follow their instructions at all times.
  • If you are receiving multiple degrees and/or certificates, you will march in the group with the highest award.
  • Balloons, backpacks, bags, horns, and beach balls are not allowed in the graduation seating area.
  • If you arrive after the processional, you will be seated provided you are in your cap and gown.
  • Graduates are asked to stay for the entire ceremony.
  • Be respectful of other graduates. Graduates and guests should minimize talking and movement during the ceremony so that each graduate’s name can be heard when called to receive their diploma.
  • At the end of the ceremony graduates will remain in their designated seating area until the stage party and faculty recessional is completed. Guests may then join the graduates on the arena floor to celebrate.
  • All attendees at the commencement must adhere to the Bell County Expo Center policies. For example, air horns are not permitted.
