Students receive instruction from licensed massage therapy instructors which includes one-on-one instruction and hands-on training. Previous training and education can be evaluated by TDLR by requesting a Transcript Evaluation to see if this training/education qualifies for licensure. In addition to 225 hours of massage therapy technique itself, our massage school in Killeen includes:

  • Anatomy and Physiology for Massage
  • Health and Hygiene
  • Business Practices and Professional Ethics
  • Kinesiology for Massage
  • Chair Massage
  • Hydrotherapy/Therapeutic Modalities
  • Spa
  • Pathology and Pharmacology for Massage
  • Healthcare Communications - Massage in a Chiropractic Setting; Massage in a Behavioral Health Setting; and Massage in a Hospital Setting

Following classroom instruction, students complete a supervised 50-hour hands-on internship and clinicals. Students demonstrate their mastery of massage therapy and entrepreneurial knowledge and skills by running the classroom as they would run their own businesses and often experience giving massage in a clinical setting.

Graduates are prepared for a massage therapy career in a variety of settings. In addition to starting their own private massage therapy practices, a career in massage therapy can span the entire spectrum of the health and wellness industry as the therapist matures into their work. Massage therapists work in:

  • Chiropractors’ offices
  • Doctors’ offices, clinics, hospitals and rehab centers
  • Hospice and nursing homes
  • Fitness centers and for sports teams
  • Cruise ships
  • Spas and salons

A growing body of research supports massage therapy for health and wellness. Regular massage promotes relaxation, increases circulation, releases endorphins, aids sleep and digestion, stimulates the immune system, increases joint flexibility and relieves pain.
