Program Accreditation
In a historic move at the National Association of State EMS Officials (NASEMO) 2010 annual meeting, NASEMSO membership voted to support Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP) as the national EMS programmatic accreditor. It also voted to require all paramedic education programs be nationally accredited by January 1, 2013, in order for graduates of these programs to be eligible to take the National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians (NREMT) paramedic exam.
Upon completion of the comprehensive evaluation, the CoAEMSP formulates a status of public recognition recommendation forwarded to CAAHEP, which awards the accreditation for paramedic programs that meet the standards.
The Central Texas College Emergency Medical Technology Program is accredited by the
Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (www.caahep.org)
upon the recommendation of the Committee on Accreditation of Educational Programs
for the Emergency Medical Services Professions (CoAEMSP).
