Upon completion of the Medical Laboratory Technician program, students will be eligible to sit for the American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP) MLT Board of Registry exam. Once a student successfully passes the ASCP BOR exam, they will be nationally certified as a medical laboratory technician. For more information on the ASCP BOR exam, go to https://www.ascp.org/content/board-of-certification/get-credentialed#us-certifications.
The State of Texas does not require state licensure for medical laboratory technicians. Some states require that MLTs be licensed in their state to be employed as an MLT. For information about state licensure outside the state of Texas, please refer to the resources offered by each state regarding their requirements.
