Language study today encompasses more than the literature, but also the culture and media of the people who use a given language. It includes understanding the socioeconomic, political and educational systems of a particular language group. A major in Modern Language will prepare students for further study and to go on to build careers in business, international relations, medicine, education, non-governmental humanitarian work, tourism, film-making, social work, criminal justice, court interpreting, FBI and CIA and other U.S. government careers.

Degrees and Certificates

The Associate of Arts degree in Modern Language requires 60 hours of coursework including 42 hours of core curriculum requirements, 14 hours of foreign language and the remaining coursework in fine arts, anthropology and one physical activity (KINE) course.
