Medical Coding and Billing

The health care industry is a growing field. Medical Coding and Billing programs have the capabilities and potential to provide opportunities for well-paid careers in high demand.

Careers, Potential Earnings & Market Growth Rates

We believe that the field with the immediate chance of hiring might be interesting for the military, transitioning military, veterans, and military spouses.

The Bureau of Labor Statistics BLS projects that the number of positions in the field of medical records and health information technology will increase by 11% between 2018 and 2028. This industry’s growth rate is faster than the national average for all occupations. Approximately 23,100 new positions will be added by 2028 (given the current COVID crisis and related long-term outcomes, maybe even more). Factors contributing to this growth include an aging population and populations dealing with the COVID-related consequences, requiring additional health information technicians and other healthcare professionals.

Careers in Medical Coding and Billing permit work from home, which is an additional benefit for the service members going through transition, veterans, and military spouses who are often caregivers. In addition to the usual sources of financing, transitioning military students can use the Credentialing Assistance program.

All proposed programs are available online, allowing students to start and finish the entire degree regardless of their location. Financial aid and scholarship programs are also available to help (MyCAA, FAFSA, CTC scholarships) military spouses and dependents.

The CTC Billing and Coding programs are designed to prepare students for a successful career in the medical billing and coding field in hospitals, medical offices, and a variety of other health care settings. You can be confident Office Technology’s (OT) programs offer instruction from experienced faculty who prepare you for certification examinations and placement in the workforce. Moreover, for every OT class you take, you receive college credit which increases the likelihood of course transfer if you decide to further your education.
