Central Texas College Names New Police ChiefNC3 logo

Killeen, TX-  After an extensive recruitment and interview process, Carrie Ellis was appointed Chief of Police for Central Texas College. A native Texan, she was born and raised in Fort Worth, Texas where she successfully completed Tarrant County College Police Academy in 1993.

Chief Ellis had over 21 distinguished years of service with the City of Corinth. During her tenure, she served as a patrol officer, school resource officer, criminal investigator, corporal, lieutenant, and was honored as Officer of the Year in 2001 and Supervisor of the Year in 2009

Chief Ellis retired from the Corinth Police Department in 2016, but she knew her calling was serving others through law enforcement. In 2017, the City of Willow Park City Council confirmed her as the first female Chief of Police. She began her service to the citizens of Willow Park on February 1, 2017. During her tenure with the Willow Park Police Department, Chief Ellis facilitated the department receiving accreditation from the Texas Police Chiefs Association in 2020.

“I am thrilled to join Central Texas College as the chief of police. I look forward to building on existing successes and leading the agency to additional levels of excellence,” Ellis said. “I am grateful for the opportunity to serve the students, faculty, and staff of Central Texas College and to create and foster relationships essential to success.”

Chief Ellis earned a Master of Public Administration from The University of Texas at Arlington, a Bachelor of Applied Arts and Sciences in Multidisciplinary Studies from Midwestern State University, and an Associate in Arts from Tarrant County College. She is a 2009 graduate of the Institute for Law Enforcement Administration’s (ILEA) School of Police Supervision and a 2015 graduate of the Bill Blackwood Leadership Command College.

She is a member of the Central Texas Area Chiefs of Police and Sheriffs’ Association, the Texas Police Chiefs Association, and the International Association of Chiefs of Police. Chief Ellis currently serves as the Second Vice President of the Texas Police Chiefs Association and is a member of the Police Administration Committee for the International Association of Chiefs of Police.
