Automotive service technicians and mechanics typically do the following:
AUMT 2417 Automotive Engine Performance and Analysis I
Theory, operation, diagnosis of drivability concerns, and repair ignition and fuel delivery systems. Use of current engine performance diagnostic equipment. Prerequisites: AUMT 2337.
AUMT 2434 Automotive Engine Performance and Analysis II*
Diagnosis and repair of emission systems, computerized engine performance systems, and advanced ignition and fuel systems. Includes use of advanced engine performance diagnostic equipment. Prerequisites: AUMT 2417.

This program prepares students to take the Automobile & Light Truck Certification ASE – A8 Engine Performance exam, offered through Automotive Service Excellence.
The cost of the exams are not included in the price of this course.
