Sterile Compounding and Aseptic Technician (SCAT)
Many pharmacy technicians are responsible for sterile compounding and the preparation of medications in a sterile environment to prevent contamination. Becoming a Certified Compounded Sterile Preparation Technician® (CSPT®) demonstrates a CPhT’s knowledge and skill as a specialized pharmacy technician and commitment to their role in ensuring medication safety. In addition, earning the CSPT Certification provides the opportunity to be recognized by your employer and colleagues for successfully meeting PTCB’s rigorous requirements for this advanced credential.
Certified (PTCB) pharmacy technician and/or registered pharmacy technician or pharmacy technician trainee; or registered pharmacist or pharmacy intern; or be enrolled in or have completed an ASHP/ACPE-Accredited Pharmacy Technician Program or ACPE Accredited College of Pharmacy or have a minimum of six months of pharmacy experience. Preferred: ≥ two years of pharmacy experience and ≥ 6 months of direct sterile compounding experience.
Available as Face-to-Face. 64 hours, average course length 2 months
$500 includes consumable supplies and a course completion certificate
$699 includes consumable supplies, a course completion certificate, and the CSPT certification exam offered through Pharmacy Technician Certification Board(PTCB)
*Textbooks and hunter green scrubs are required and available at the CTC Bookstore.
This course prepares a student to take Certified Compounded Sterile Preparation Technician® (CSPT®) certification exam.
