Graphic design is an exciting, creative industry where you can apply your passion for art. Press technicians can find job security in this technology driven field. The Bureau of Labor Statistics projects there will be more than 123,000 new job openings for graphic designers by the year 2020. Designers can work in small companies, large corporations, even from home or on the beach. In this career, you can really be your own boss. Press technicians can work in smaller companies or larger corporations. This self-paced, open-entry program will allow you to begin at any time and work at your own pace with convenient hours to fit your schedule.
Our program is for students preparing to enter the graphic arts and printing career field. The program provides entry-level, industry-validated “hands-on” instruction to prepare students to be successful in the graphics and printing industry job market. Studies include basic shop skills, graphic design, publication layout, composition, digital publishing (IBM and Mac compatible), photo manipulation, typography, digital pre-press, wide format and screen printing, press operations, bindery and finishing operations and portfolio development. The program uses the latest graphic design software and printing technology equipment.
This program offers different pathways, and you can choose your final destination. Students may pursue an associate degree or certificate. The certificate develops skills for more immediate employability. The associate degree adds additional specialized coursework along with more general academic courses. Certificates can be completed in as little as two semesters and students can continue adding credits to achieve additional certificates and an associate of applied science degree.
