Central Texas College Student Graduates with Associate Degree as a High School Junior

COPPERAS COVE, TEXAS — Central Texas College dual credit student Isabella Sequenzia Isabella Sequenzia is graduating one year ahead of schedule—and with an associate degree already in hand, ready to walk the stage Friday night to receive her high school diploma from Copperas Cove High School.

“CTC played a huge role in my educational journey,” Sequenzia said. “Not only did it give me the opportunity to earn my associate degree as a junior, but it also allowed me to graduate a full year early.”

Sequenzia began taking college-level courses through CTC while still in high school. While she acknowledged that the jump from high school to college coursework was a challenge, she credits the support of CTC faculty and staff for helping her navigate the transition.

“Getting my associate degree while still in high school helped me understand the college process, manage my time, and ultimately feel confident in the college environment,” she said. “It also saved me a great deal of time and money.”

Sequenzia's early success reflects the impact of CTC’s dual credit program, which offers motivated high school students the opportunity to get a head start on their college education while gaining valuable experience in higher education settings.

Reflecting on her journey, Sequenzia encourages other students to embrace the challenge.

“If I could go back to my sophomore year self-entering CTC, I’d say: don’t stress so much. It’s going to be hard—but it’s going to be so worth it.”

CTC remains committed to providing accessible, high-quality education that prepares students for future academic and career success.

“We are proud of Isabella and students like her who take initiative, overcome challenges, and strive for excellence,” CTC Chancellor Dr. Michele Carter said. “Her success is a testament to the value of early college opportunities.”

Sequenzia will begin her next academic chapter at Southwestern University in Georgetown this fall, where she plans to pursue a bachelor’s degree in biology before attending dental school.

“I’m so thankful for the opportunity CTC and Copperas Cove High School have given me,” Sequenzia said. “Thank you to everyone who’s been a part of my journey.”
