CTC THEATER TO PRESENT ‘ALICE IN WONDERLAND’
Audiences invited to fall down the rabbit hole into peculiar world

KILLEEN, TX — Central Texas College Fine Arts will present “Alice in Wonderland” at 7 p.m. Nov. 16-18 in the school’s Lady Bird Johnson Fine Arts Center auditorium.

The play, based on the beloved classic by Lewis Carroll, is a reimagining of Wonderland, with an unexpected twist ending. When Alice tumbles down a rabbit hole, she is immersed in a fantastical, wacky land.

Student Ace Echevarria Gonzalez is playing Alice. It’s the 20-year-old’s first-ever leading role.

“I am incredibly excited to see all the puzzle pieces put together and put on the show of a lifetime,” Echevarria Gonzalez, a drama performance student at CTC, said. “My favorite part of preparing so far is seeing everyone try on their costumes. Up until now, none of us knew how we would look. We had to use our imagination to create the look of the character that we were speaking to and now we have a lot more to go off of.”

Echevarria Gonzalez is also excited for audiences to experience the set design.

“All of the set pieces and nearly all of the props will be 2D to give the storybook feel of the original Alice in Wonderland book and cartoon,” Echevarria Gonzalez said. “I think the most magnificent part for the audience is actually being in Wonderland with us all.”

Emily Roeder, a CTC drama professor and program coordinator, is the show’s director. Kenn Christenson is the technical director.

The show runs about 65 minutes with no intermission and includes a cast and crew of 35 students – both from CTC and the Early College High School located on campus. 

Roeder has enjoyed seeing the camaraderie, support and hard work of each student.

“In order to put this show on its feet, everyone has ended up with multiple jobs, and it is with joy and friendship that this show is being crafted,” she said. “It is an incredible educational process to create this world of wonder.”

Tickets are $10 for general admission and can be purchased at the door with cash, card or check.
