Nearly Half of Copperas Cove Top Graduates Connected to Central Texas College

COPPERAS COVE, TEXAS (May 21, 2025) — Nearly half of Copperas Cove High School’s top graduates Cove CTC Students - Grads have continued or are continuing their educational journey through Central Texas College (CTC), underscoring the higher education institution’s commitment to preparing students for college and career success.

Out of the top 50 graduates who were honored at the Copperas Cove Education Foundation’s 18th Annual Senior Walk of Fame event earlier this week, 23 students either earned an associate degree or certification from CTC or have enrolled to begin classes at the college this fall. The achievement reflects the success of dual credit and early college initiatives. The students honored by the foundation rank in the top 10 percent of the graduating class based on their grade point averages

One standout graduate, Danyel Clarke, earned her Associate of Science degree from Central Texas College while still attending high school. This fall, she will begin her studies at the University of Texas at San Antonio as a junior, majoring in Finance.

“Mrs. (Jodie) Jost played a crucial role in my academic success by helping me enroll in dual credit courses and supporting me throughout the process,” Clarke said. “Her consistent guidance, encouragement, and communication of important information helped me stay on track and earn my associate’s degree from Central Texas College while still in high school.”

Another top graduate, Ky’Asia Barnes-Sims, will begin her studies at Central Texas College this fall with plans to major in Computer Science. Barnes-Sims was actively involved in the Copperas Cove High School Colorguard and is known for her leadership and discipline.

“Central Texas College will provide Ky’Asia the opportunity to excel educationally while providing her with the comfort of staying close to home,” said Chrissa Link, CCHS Colorguard Director. “She is a determined and focused individual, and I have no doubt she will thrive in a college environment that values student support and growth.”

Central Texas College’s summer session begins June 2.
