CTCT dance team signing Day

KILLEEN, TEXAS (May 15, 2025) — Two local high school dancers have made history as the first students ever to sign letters of commitment to the newly established Central Texas College Dance Team.CTC Dance Team Signing Day

Killeen High School seniors Tranyah Boyd and D’Niya Arthur officially committed to CTC during a signing event that marked a major milestone for both the college and the students. The CTC Dance Team, launched just last year, is still in its early stages of development, making Boyd and Arthur's signings a significant and symbolic step forward.

Boyd, known for her leadership and dedication, brings a strong presence to the team. Her enthusiasm and drive to support her teammates were key attributes noticed during tryouts.

“Signing day for the Central Texas College Dance Team to me means a commitment to a team and a new start,” Boyd said. “As a member of the CTC Dance Team, I’m ready to improve, grow, and bring positivity and focus to the team. I’m so excited for this opportunity.”

Arthur served as a high school dance officer and has a track record of building spirit and camaraderie within her teams. She aims to bring that same energy and leadership to CTC.

“I am fully committed to the college and the team. I tried out for the CTC Dance Team because I want to major in dance and possibly become a dance coach,” Arthur said. “I also plan to be part of the choir. My goal is to help build a supportive team, organize tryouts, and represent CTC at competitions.”

Jenifer Parcell, Coordinator of Student Life and Activities and coach of the CTC Dance Team, emphasized the historic nature of this moment.

“This team is brand new—we just started it this past year,” Parcell said. “These are our first official signings, and that makes this moment iconic. We're still building the team and these young women are helping lay the foundation. At tryouts, we look for coachability, skill level, and especially positive attitudes. From there, the work begins. I’m looking to build something amazing with this team.”

As the CTC Dance Team continues to grow, Boyd and Arthur’s signings set a precedent for future dancers looking to elevate their talents while pursuing higher education.
