CTC POLICE ACADEMY RECOGNIZES GRADUATING CADETS
Seven cadets prepare to serve local communities after completing 44-week course

KILLEEN, TX — Seven cadets graduated from the Central Texas College Police Academy on Friday after completing the 44-week, 720-hour Basic Peace Officer Course that began last February.

The cadets were part of the Alpha 2023 class and represented three law enforcement agencies across Central Texas.

Lt. Clifton Osborne, CTC’s program coordinator, said he is proud to graduate another cohort of cadets who are ready to serve the community.

“The dedication and commitment of our law enforcement officers directly impact quality of life for local citizens,” Osborne said. “It’s always an honor for CTC to play a role in preparing cadets for the huge responsibility they will undertake in serving their communities.”

Dean Dr. Melanie Baak gave welcoming remarks. Clifford Coleman, who is Justice of the Peace for Bell County Precinct 2, was the guest speaker.

During the ceremony, two cadets earned recognition for their achievements in the academy.

Cadet Elise Cole of the Bell County Sheriff’s Office was selected by her classmates to be class president. In addition, she won the Top Gear award for best driving competency. Cole also earned the Honors Graduate award.

Jordan Richards of Morgan’s Point Resort Police Department won the Top Gun award for firearms proficiency.

Cadets selected Officer Brian Pruitt from the Killeen Police Department as the winner of the Best Instructor award.

Graduates of the BPOC Alpha 2023 class are: Wynema M. Adams (Milam County Sheriff’s Office); Benjamin W. Bales (Granite Shoals); Elise L. Cole (Bell County Sheriff’s Office); Brenda C. Hilton (Harker Heights Police Department); Robert K. Porter (independent); Jordan L. Richards (Morgan’s Point Resort Police Department); and Jared A. Rios (Manor Independent School District Police Department).

The CTC Police Academy Basic Peace Officer Course prepares students for the Texas Commission on Law Enforcement licensing exam. Upon successful completion of the licensing exam, cadets are eligible to become peace officers in Texas.
