CTC RECOGNIZES NURSING GRADUATES IN PINNING CEREMONY
Tradition marks transition from student to nurse
KILLEEN, TX — New graduates from Central Texas College’s Associate Degree in Nursing program marked their accomplishment on Thursday with a pinning ceremony on campus with friends and family.
“The pinning ceremony has been a highlight for generations of nursing students,” Dr. Tammy Frew, department chair of Health Science programs, said. “It signifies the completion of this level of nursing education – where students have learned a new language, many new skills and a different way of thinking – and the official transition into the profession. They are now prepared to become involved in the lives of individuals, families and communities, often at some of their most vulnerable times. We are so proud of all of them.”
The new graduates are now eligible to take the NCLEX licensure exam to become registered nurses, Frew said.
Graduates who completed the 60-credit hour program included: Marcus Adkins; Ariel Alvarez; Zulema Aviles (Torres); Valerie Babauta; Brianna Braswell; Jeniffer Caballero; Mary Carroll; Christina Davis; Kelsey Dickson; Ashley Frescatore; Latoya Gaffney; Victoria Gallien; Kaitlynn Gengler; Austyn Giacomozzi; Maria Hardridge; Sharla Hudson; Karen Hunn; Jennyfer Jarrin-Gonzalez; Kayleigh Jones; Jenni Jordan; Kelsey Kidd; Matthew Kruebbe; Samantha Makosky; Rocio Martinez-Funakoshi; Ngozi Mgbemene; Jasmine Murray; Eleonora Onofrei; Heather Rosa-Velazquez; Victoria Singh; Patricia Skinner; Lauren Steele; Stephanie Swearingen; Mina Vaquez; Rebecca Wallace; and Rachael Winters.
