May 19, 2021 - Mask/Face-Covering Update:

On Tuesday, May 18, Governor Greg Abbott issued Executive Order GA-36, which prohibits governmental entities from mandating face coverings in response to the COVID-19 disaster. Therefore, effective Thursday, May 20, Central Texas College will no longer require face coverings to be worn on the main campus or any CTC-owned or leased facility in Texas, excluding Fort Hood.

The administration is currently reviewing our COVID-19 health and safety protocols to determine what changes need to be made at this time, keeping in mind that your safety remains our top priority. In the interim, please continue to follow all other preventive personal safety practices as outlined in our return to campus plan.

March 3, 2021 - Face Covering Update:

Yesterday afternoon Governor Abbott issued Executive Order No. GA-34 relating to the opening of Texas in response to the COVID-19 disaster. The order, which goes into effect March 10, 2021 at 12:01 am, includes lifting the mandate on wearing face coverings. Please note that the executive order does allow institutions of higher education to establish minimum standard health protocols.

While the administration anticipates additional guidance and/or recommendations from state agencies on this topic, the current CTC health and safety protocols remain in effect until further notice. Therefore, students, faculty, staff, vendors, and visitors are required to adhere to these protocols, which include wearing masks. The safety and welfare of the entire CTC community remains our top priority.

April 24, 2020 - Summer Classes Update

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, face-to-face courses at Central Texas College scheduled for Summer 2020 will be initiated as online courses. The delivery method of these courses may revert back to face-to-face delivery during the semester/term as we monitor and adhere to notices from governmental and health agencies.  If disallowed, all CTC courses will remain online.  Labs required for vocational technical programs such as allied health and industrial technology that cannot be delivered remotely may be delivered in small group settings in accordance with CDC guidelines. We ask that you select and plan your courses accordingly. Your health and safety is our first priority and we appreciate your flexibility and patience during these difficult times.

April 24, 2020 - CARES ACT Emergency Aid

Under the Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security (CARES) Act, eligible CTC students will have access to funds allocated to the Higher Education Emergency Relief Fund. Specifically, the fund provides emergency aid grants to students for expenses related to the disruption of campus operations due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The college’s grant application for the receipt of this funding is currently in progress. In the meantime, the process for determining student eligibility and disbursement of these funds is being developed. Continue to monitor your email and the college’s website for updates.

April 24, 2020 - Event Cancellation Extension

As the CTC administration continues to monitor the COVID-19 crisis, the health and safety of our students and staff remains our top priority. With that in mind, the cancellation of CTC sponsored events is extended through August 31, 2020. This decision is also applicable to events booked by external organizations. All events scheduled beyond August 31 are subject to change or cancellation based on guidance and information disseminated by local, state, and federal officials.

In keeping with federal, state, and local guidance as it relates to slowing the spread of COVID-19, Texas campuses will remain closed through May 3. During this time, administrative, instructional, and student support services offices will be available remotely.

The administration will continue to monitor the COVID-19 crisis. In the meantime, stay safe and stay in place. We will get through this.

March 30, 2020 - Announcement for students

In the interest of student and employee safety, the following in-person services will cease effective Monday, March 30:

  • Testing centers will be closed and no longer available by appointment.
  • The library multimedia lab and departmental labs will be closed and no longer available by appointment.
  • Students in lab classes, career and technical education, and in other courses which include hands-on labs should contact their instructor to determine if another lab option has been created or if they must resume labs once campus reopens.

March 23, 2020 - Message from Chancellor Jim Yeonopolus

Your health and safety remain my top priority as we continue to navigate the COVID-19 pandemic.

Today, March 23, 2020, Bell County Judge David Blackburn issued Bell County Disaster Declaration Directive #3 – Stay Home Stay Safe, effective at 11:59 pm this evening and ending at 11:59 pm on April 3. This Order requires all individuals anywhere in Bell County to shelter in place – that is, stay at home -- except for certain essential activities and certain essential business and government services.

As a political subdivision providing education to our community, Central Texas College is authorized by the Order to continue providing classes and services to our students in compliance with the social distancing requirements of six feet, to the extent possible. Therefore, CTC classes will continue online for the remainder of the Spring semester. Students will be allowed to use previously identified resources and services to facilitate completion of their coursework while complying with the Order and social distancing requirements.

Thank you for your continued patience during this difficult time. Please be diligent in keeping you and your loved ones safe and healthy. We will get through this.

Sincerely,
Jim Yeonopolus
Chancellor

March 19, 2020 Update

The Central Texas College administration announced updates to its COVID-19 response designed to minimize risk to students, staff and faculty while continuing to serve students. All classes at Texas locations will be moved online beginning March 23, with the exception of limited labs. Student support services offices will be available by email to serve students. The CTC campus remains closed to students and visitors through April 5.

  • Students will be contacted directly by their instructors with more information, including how to access courses and required in person labs.
  • Current and prospective students may access student services and support functions by working with staff via email and phone while offices are closed to the public. Each office will update their website information to reflect processes for accessing services.
  • The Central Texas College Child Development Center and the Mayborn Science Theater are closed through Sunday, April 5.
  • All Central Texas College sponsored events and functions are cancelled through May 31, 2020. The administration will evaluate the possibility of rescheduling other events based on further guidance from national, state, and local officials.  Events booked by external organizations are included in this cancellation. POCs for those events will be contacted via email.

The situation remains fluid, and changes to our operation may occur with short notice. We appreciate your patience as we work through the present circumstances. Our goal is to continue serving our students with limited interruptions to the learning process.

More detailed information for students and links to resources will be posted to this page. Check this page, and your student email often!

March 15, 2020 Update

All Texas locations will be closed March 16-22 and no classroom courses will be held. Therefore, campus services will not be available during this time frame. With the main campus closure, online bookstore orders will not be processed. Online classes in progress and those starting March 16 are proceeding as scheduled.

For students currently enrolled in online courses starting Monday, March 16 who have not purchased books, faculty will provide guidance on how to best work through coursework until the CTC bookstore is reopened and able to ship textbooks. Students who are able to purchase books without using financial aid may use our online book partner at https://bookstore.mbsdirect.net/vbm/ctc.htm

Late registration for online courses beginning March 16 has been extended through the end of the day Wednesday, March 18 via Webadvisor. Students are encouraged to register for courses on their degree plan that do not require books, but use “open educational resources,” which are free and included in Blackboard online course access.

Any new course registration for March 16 classes may be done online via Wedadvisor, with payment at the time of registration or pending financial aid available to cover course tuition.

Communication will be sent to students EagleMail accounts with information specific to location and/or courses. In addition, general updates will be posted on this page, CTC's social media accounts and via our EagleAlert text and email system. Staff will be monitoring official college Facebook, Twitter and Instagram accounts and will respond to messages.

Helpful links and FAQs will be added to this page.
