  • Attend class every day Monday through Thursday
  • Attend a required number of hours of tutoring a week (dependent on term length)

The advantages of this program include:

  • Dedicated learning with two professors (teaching and tutoring)
  • Completion of NCBO Beginning Algebra and credit-bearing Contemporary Mathematics in one semester
  • Dedicated computer lab with specialized tutoring services
  • Copies of lectures emailed to you daily

Currently, you will need to buy one My Labs Plus access code to cover both courses.

DSMA 0492: NCBO Beginning Algebra is designed to help students accelerate through the developmental mathematics sequence here at Central Texas College in one term. This is accomplished through developmental education interventions that use innovative learning approaches that, compared to traditional lecture-only classes, more effectively and efficiently prepare students to advance. This course specifically focuses on the concepts of Beginning Algebra necessary for the student to complete Contemporary Mathematics concurrently.

MATH 1332: Topics include introductory treatments of sets and logic, Geometric Concepts, financial mathematics, probability and statistics with appropriate applications. Number sense, proportional reasoning, estimation, technology, and communication will be embedded throughout the course. This course is intended for Non STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) majors. Be sure to check your degree plan to see if MATH 1332 meets the college core requirement.

DSMA 0493 – NCBO Intermediate Algebra / MATH 1314 – College Algebra

You will complete DSMA 0493 NCBO Intermediate Algebra and MATH 1314 College Algebra in one semester. The classes will be run concurrently. The commitment from you will include:

  • Attend class every day Monday through Thursday
  • Attend a required number of hours of tutoring a week (dependent on term length)

The advantages of this program include:

  • Dedicated learning with two professors (teaching and tutoring)
  • Completion of NCBO Intermediate Algebra and credit-bearing College Algebra in one semester
  • Dedicated computer lab with specialized tutoring services
  • Copies of lectures emailed to you daily

Currently, you will need to buy one My Labs Plus access code to cover both courses.

DSMA 0493: NCBO Intermediate Algebra is designed to help students accelerate through the developmental mathematics sequence here at Central Texas College in one term. This is accomplished through developmental education interventions that use innovative learning approaches that, compared to traditional lecture-only classes, more effectively and efficiently prepare students to advance. This course specifically focuses on the concepts of Intermediate Algebra necessary for the student to complete College Algebra concurrently.

MATH 1314: A study of relations and functions, polynomial functions and equations of degree higher than two, exponential and logarithmic functions and equations, matrices, and determinants, sequences and series, the binomial theorem, and mathematical induction. This course meets the college core requirement and is recommended for students planning to transfer to bachelor’s degree programs. Graded exercises, guided practice, and graded quizzes will be completed in a nonlecture, lab environment requiring a minimum of one contact hour per week of activity.

DSMA 0491 – NCBO Foundations of Algebra

Students are given the opportunity to complete the two lower-level developmental mathematics courses in one semester. This course merges the concepts from Pre-Algebra and Intermediate Algebra.

The commitment from you for the student will include:

  • Attend lecture class during registered times Monday through Thursday

The advantages of this program include:

  • Decrease time required to complete the traditional course sequence.
  • Save money from purchasing one text/access code that covers two levels.

DSMA 0491: NCBO Developmental Mathematics is designed specifically for those students that can be successful in the lower levels of the mathematics sequence in a faster paced setting but still need the lecture component of the course. This course will develop the student’s skills starting with arithmetic through basic algebra to include graphing and operations of polynomials. This is accomplished through coverage topics including operations involving real numbers, percents, ratios/proportions, linear equations, weight, mass, capacity, system of linear equations, polynomials, factoring, graphing, and selected applications problems. This course will assist the student in developing the critical-thinking and problem-solving skills necessary for other developmental or college-level courses.

This course is required for students who have not achieved a passing score on the TSI Assessment. Successful completion of this course fulfills the prerequisite for the next higher developmental or college-level mathematics course. This course has no prerequisite.

DSMA 0499 – NCBO Developmental Mathematics

Students are given the opportunity to complete all three developmental mathematics levels in one semester. The number of levels completed is determined by the student’s level of dedication and determination.

The commitment from you will include:

  • Attend class computer lab for tutoring during registered times Monday through Thursday
  • Have weekly meetings with Instructor of Record (IR) at least once a week

The advantages of this program include:

  • Dedicated learning with three subject matter experts
  • Dedicated computer lab with specialized tutoring services

DSMA 0499: NCBO Developmental Mathematics is designed to help students accelerate through the developmental mathematics sequence here at Central Texas College in one term. This is accomplished through developmental education interventions that use innovative learning approaches that, compared to traditional lecture-only classes, more effectively and efficiently prepare students to advance. This course teaches such topics as those covered in the traditional Pre-Algebra, Beginning Algebra, and Intermediate Algebra courses. This course will assist the student in developing the critical-thinking and problem-solving skills necessary for college level mathematics courses.

This course is required for students who have not achieved a passing score on the state-mandated placement examination. Upon successful completion of DSMA 0499, a internal marker is placed in your student account to show completion of levels you mastered during the term.  The number of levels is dependent on the successful completion of the final examination for that level with a grade of 70% or higher.
