Associate of Arts & Science Degrees
The Texas Common Core
All Associate of Arts and Associate of Science degrees have a common "core" curriculum. These courses are generally taken during the first two years of a four-year college degree and are often referred to as "the basics." In addition to providing a breadth of knowledge, the core curriculum facilitates the transferability of lower division courses between Central Texas College and universities in Texas. Although the core is guaranteed to transfer to an upper level university, there may be other prerequisite requirements that should be taken during your first two years. If you plan to transfer, check degree plans at your university of choice and discuss your plans with your academic advisor.
Most courses are three semester credit hours. Lab science and math courses are four semester credit hours and most kinesiology courses are one semester credit hour. Course descriptions are available online.
