PATIO CAFE PLANS WEST INDIAN MEAL FOR APRIL 
Public invited to enjoy an international meal prepared by Culinary Arts students 

KILLEEN, TX — The Hospitality Programs department of Central Texas College will host a West Indian meal at the Patio Cafe on April 19.

The reservation-only event is part of a series of international dinners offered on selected Friday evenings at the Roy J. Smith Student Center. Meals are prepared by members of the Intermediate Food Preparation class. 

The final dinner will be May 3 (Western cooking). Seatings will be every 15 minutes from 5:30-7 p.m. 

Reservations are required by calling 254-526-1515 or emailing debra.knudson@ctcd.edu. Call or email to make your reservation by 1 p.m. Thursday. Include the name, time of arrival and number of people in the party.

Forms of payment are cash or check with driver's license or state-issued identification. Credit cards are not accepted. 

The April 19 menu is:

- Appetizer -

West Indie Trio......$9.00      Jerk chicken wings, Bajan fish cakes, & fried plantains sampler plate.

- Soup & Salads -

Dhal Soup........Bowl $6.00     Cup $3.00     Yellow Split Peas cooked in a blend of spices and served with Roti.                                                                                                                           

Island Shrimp Salad.....$15.50       Juicy Shrimp on a salad with tomatoes, red onion & bell pepper; tossed with a cilantro-lime dressing.

Roti Flat Bread ……$2.50       Brushed with garlic butter.

- Sides -

Calypso Rice......$3.50      White rice with bell peppers .

Baked Mac & Cheese.......$3.50       Five-cheese blend baked in a classic comfort food.

Fried Cabbage.......$3.50       Sautéed cabbage w/ peppers, onions & garlic.                                                                                                                           

Glazed Carrots.......$3.50          Sliced carrots coated and sautéed in a sweet glaze.

- Entrées -

Entrees include a honey oat roll, iced tea or coffee, and a choice of two sides.      (Mango Chutney and House Pepper Sauce are also available)

**Guyanese Pepperpot.......$20.00         Beef rib braised in a savory sauce flavored with habanero, onion, herbs & cassava.

**Trinidad Curry Chicken.......$17.00        A classic West Indian chicken stew with various spices, garlic & onion.

Jerk Pork.......$18.00        Grilled pork cutlet seasoned in jerk spices.

Vanilla Ice Cream w/ Grape Nut Crumble.......$6.50        Homemade vanilla ice cream topped with crunchy grape nuts.
