A student who drops below a full course of study without the prior approval of the ISS Director will be considered out of status.
In order for a student to obtain authorization to drop below a full course of study, he or she must first receive permission from their Designated School Official. There are specific circumstances that justify the approval of a reduced course load of study for F-1 students.
