KILLEEN, TX - Central Texas College's non-commercial radio station, KNCT-FM, will replace its 26-year-old antenna next week.
The upgrade will lead to temporary disruptions in broadcasting, said KNCT General Manager Michelle Flores. Content will be available for listeners through the streaming site at www.knct.org.
Work is expected to begin May 14, weather permitting.
"The new antenna is better suited to handle adverse weather conditions and will provide the quality our listeners need," Flores said. “It will ensure we continue in our commitment to delivering reliable service and top-notch programming to our dedicated audience.”
A non-commercial radio station operating since 1970, KNCT features “simply beautiful” music, news, weather and public affairs programming. The station broadcasts by a 50,000-watt transmitter near Stillhouse Hollow Reservoir throughout an area including Killeen, Copperas Cove, Temple, Waco and Austin.
KNCT’s operations depend on listener support and grant funding from the Corporation for Public Broadcasting. The next Summer Membership Campaign is June 3-18.
Additional information is available by calling the station at 254-526-1176.
