Your massage therapy career begins at Central Texas College! Massage Therapy is a licensed healthcare profession regulated by the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation (TDLR). Our massage therapy program is approved by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges and the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board as a certificate of completion for college credit under Texas Department of Licensing & Regulation (TDLR) effective January 1, 2021. The Massage Therapy Program is three consecutive semesters, 28 semester credit hour (SCH) certificate. Courses must be completed in a specific sequence. Students go through the program as a cohort. Our 28 SCH certificate of completion exceeds state requirements and concludes with 50 hands-on hours of Internship/Clinicals. Our massage school prepares graduates to sit for the State of Texas licensure examination – the Massage and Bodywork Licensing Exam (MBLEx ) – administered by the Federation of State Massage Therapy Boards. A passing score on the MBLEx is good in 46 states and U.S. territories.
Although not available at this time, license portability is being addressed at the national level.
